Animal Services Policy on Cats
The Animal Services Department supports the practice of trap-neuter-return (TNR) as the most effective and practical long-term solution to address population management with regard to feral and community cats. As a policy, Animal Services does not actively trap or remove stray felines from private property, nor are they or domesticated cats accepted at the animal shelter. Animal Services encourages the efforts of property owners and private organizations to trap and neuter unowned community cats and safely return them to their home area. These methods have been shown to be an effective means of limiting the growth of stray cat populations. For more information on TNR resources in the area, please call or email.
