Economic Development Director

Position Description:

The purpose of this position is to serve as a liaison between businesses and County government, revitalize the downtown district via business recruitment, improving public infrastructure, and providing community events; to create a walkable environment, to help ensure that certain sections of the County’s ordinances are meeting the needs of the business community, and to promote public investment in community assets that will make the County more competitive. Incumbent also fosters community development by expanding diverse and inclusive citizen participation in developing a strategic community agenda; implementation of strategic plans; enhancing community spirit and pride; and improving economic sustainability of the County.

This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Planning, Economics or related field.

• Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, business development or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
